Media release: 1 March, 2013

Get Ready For The Next Generation of Hi-5!

One of the world's best loved preschool children's entertainment groups Hi-5 will hit the big screen in a new movie - with cast member Lauren heading to New Zealand next week to promote the new film.

The movie follows Hi-5's Stevie and Lauren as they search for three new cast members in their big screen debut for the cinema premiere of Hi-5 Some Kind of Wonderful.

Hi-5 Some Kind of Wonderful opens nationally across Hoyts cinemas on Saturday March 23 - with tickets on sale from midday on March 12th.

Fans will also have the opportunity to hear more about the new movie from Lauren when she arrives in New Zealand next week for a whirlwind publicity tour.

The cinema release follows a worldwide search to find the best three young entertainers to fill the big shoes of departing cast members Casey, Fely and Tim. View the trailer here.

Hi-5 Some Kind of Wonderful is a step back in time looking at where it all began in 1999 right up until the final announcement of the three new cast members in 2013.

Older audiences may remember the original cast members Nathan, Charli, Tim, Kelli and Kathleen along with the departing cast members Casey, Fely and Tim who return to judge the best of the talent throughout the extensive audition process.

Parents will appreciate the tenacious behind-the-scenes search for talented individuals who will connect, educate and entertain the toughest audience in the world - pre-schoolers!

Lauren says it was great to see so many talented performers audition for Hi-5, and their enthusiasm and incredible energy came across in the feature.

"It was a tough job choosing three but everyone is really pleased with the new friends we have chosen and we can't wait to work with them and introduce them across the world," says Lauren.

Lauren says Hi-5 Some Kind of Wonderful provides a unique cinematic experience where children and parents alike will sing along to their favourite Hi-5 songs throughout the feature as she and Stevie take the audience on a roller coaster ride of what the Hi-5 family is all about.

She says throughout the movie the multi Logie and ARIA award winning Hi-5 stays true to its original premise which is to encourage children to enjoy being active through dance, movement and play.

The Hi-5 Executive Creative Director Julie Greene says it is one of the most exciting times in the eight year history she has had with Hi-5.

"Not only are we dipping our toes into cinematic waters while finding 3 new cast-members, we are revealing the passion and energy that goes into the creation of Hi-5 with our audition special. We want mums and dads to know how rigorous our process is to find the right cast so we can continue to delight our very special audience - Pre-schoolers. Some Kind of Wonderful shares an insight into our Hi-5 world that the whole family will be able to share" she says.

The Hi-5 Chairman Jared Lim says he has taken a personal involvement in the project as Executive Producer.

"For this cinema release, rather than just spending the money for the audition and have nothing to show for it- spend a little bit more, get a crew in and produce a show. Now we have something to show... something Hi-5 in their 14 years never did. If you come from a different angle and have the right management to take it through. It's fun!" he says.
