Buck Brings Back Marmite!

Buck Shelford’s visit to Christchurch was a morale boost for some Marmite fans when he arrived at their homes with jars of Marmite specially signed by him. The Rebuild Christchurch Foundation, which works with earthquake affected people, identified some families to be the lucky recipients of a visit from the former All Black captain in their homes on the 6th of March.

Sanitarium General Manager, Pierre van Heerden, accompanied Buck as he visited several of the families to deliver Marmite produced at Sanitarium’s newly strengthened factory in Christchurch.

“It’s fitting that the first jars of Marmite go to Christchurch families directly impacted by the earthquakes,” said van Heerden. “These jars are a symbol of Christchurch’s rebuilding and resilience.”

Buck also visited and toured the Marmite factory, even helping to pack and stack pallets of Marmite for distribution across the nation.

“I am really pleased to be involved in bringing Marmite back to the nation,” said Buck Shelford. “The families impacted by the quakes really deserve to get the first jars off the production line.”

Deon Swiggs from the Rebuild Christchurch Foundation says this positive initiative from Sanitarium has given a lift to some families who are still struggling due to earthquake related issues. Over the next week the Rebuild Christchurch Foundation will deliver further jars of Marmite to selected families in Christchurch.

Marmite returns to supermarket shelves across New Zealand on March 20.
