Sir Graham Henry Up-skills Hawke’s Bay Junior Rugby Coaches
Friday, 15th March 2013 – Hawke’s Bay junior and secondary school rugby coaches had an opportunity to learn from the best during a question and answer session with Sir Graham Henry yesterday, thanks to Unison Networks’ continuing support of the region’s junior rugby programme.
Unison extended an invite to all Hawke’s Bay coaches of junior and secondary school rugby teams to hear Sir Graham Henry’s talk about his experiences and views on coaching fundamentals.
The seminar at the Napier Old Boys Marist club rooms in Park Island was well received by the coaches.
“It was a great opportunity to listen and meet someone that to me is a living legend”, said Paul Teddy, coach of 12th grade junior rugby team for Napier Old Boys Marist Rugby Club.
The visit by the world renowned rugby coach was made possible through Unison’s partnership with The Rugby Site, launched last month as an extension to the Company’s sponsorship of the Hawke’s Bay junior rugby programme.
Founded with the backing of Sir Graham Henry, Wayne Smith, Richie McCaw and Dan Carter in July 2011, The Ruby Site is an online provider of world-class rugby coaching aids, commentary and resources from inside the game. The site is dedicated to growing the skills and knowledge of players, coaches and committed fans, and now hosts content from 14 coaches and players from around the world, including Victor Matfield, Brian Ashton, and Bismarck du Plessis, with many more joining the ranks in the next few months.
Unison Group Chief Executive Ken Sutherland said the partnership provided an opportunity for junior and secondary school rugby coaches and 10-12th grade players to gain access to an amazing resource used by regional, national and international players and coaches.
“Our partnership with The Rugby Site allows us to give junior and secondary school rugby coaches a chance to learn from one of the most admired coaches in the world, as well as have access to resources created by some of the world’s rugby greats. These coaches give up their spare time for the love of the game, and we are thrilled to provide them with the tools to develop their skill base.”
