World Showcases Collection in Spectacular Style
The WORLD show exploded onto the catwalk as the opening show for Wellington Fashion Week, a culmination of 22 years in the industry.
The AW13 collection, showcased trademark WORLD exuberance, accompanied by striking glitter and colour.
WORLD womenswear played with patterns, textures and colour, using fabrics such as velvet, sequins and satin with fur accents. Menswear models gave a distinctly playful vibe with waved hair and hand-drawn moustaches. The use of well-tailored suits paired with colourful scarves, and fur bow ties highlighted WORLD’s sartorial eye for detail.
From Swarovski crystals, to glitter and hair lacquer, the hair and make-up carefully crafted by Wellington Fashion Week hair and make-up directors, complimented WORLD’s aesthetic magically.
Michael Beel, Creative Director at Buoy Hairdressing and Hair Director for Wellington Fashion Week, has been working alongside Francis and Benny from WORLD to help create the look for their debut at Wellington Fashion Week.
He describes the WORLD look as showcasing “The Great Gatsby, Downton Abbey, and 1920’s finger-waves.” The theme through hair varies, but “the wave moment is our strongest focal point.”
Lips were clearly the statement across the show. Models' lips were embellished intricately with Swarovski crystals, ranging from hues of striking red, pink and purple. Make-up Director Olivia Wild explains that It has taken three trial runs to perfect this look.
She describes the process as one of the most exciting highlights of her career to date, as she was free to be creative and adventurous.
"I'd say that this the one of the most exciting catwalk looks I've created in my career. I really got to explore aesthetic and beautiful looks".
