Makertorium is a showcase of Kiwi ingenuity, with makers, creators, tinkerers and inventors from all over the country heading to Te Papa on April 27th. Doors open at 10 am until 6 pm with over fifty exhibitions and installations spread over eight zones, including the Anzac Periscope Challenge and the Eggs Prize launch.
The first exhibition of this kind to be held in New Zealand, attendees will experience some of the best craft, design, tinkering and inventing in the country from Bristlebots in Dunedin to The Diamond Age in Auckland. Including handson workshops for minimakers to learn about LEDS, electronics, digital and design, make a rocket or a World War One style periscope. Head to the Icon Room on Level One to the 3D Petting Zoo to see 3D printers in action, an opensourced Wikihouse plus Digital, Electronics and Education exhibits. Explore the the 3D photodome and watch Makertorium TV being made live, and streamed worldwide from the giant Makerbooth. On Level Two visit the Tweet Me interactive forest, find out about local NZ Makerspaces and take part in workshops throughout the Craft Zone. Watch Blunt Force Trauma Robots battle in the Robot Zone, take part in the Anzac Periscope Challenge or visit the Outdoor Arena for even more installations and activities.
Outside and through the Red Gates you will be greeted by the Makercrate, a makerspace in a shipping crate. See a vintage spitfire car, or launch a rocket of your own design.
