A Race to the Finish Line

Now in its 30th year Koru Care NZ are busy raising funds to send 50 special kids off on a trip of a lifetime.

Each year Koru Care NZ has taken groups of children with ongoing medical conditions and other challenges in their lives, and this year will be no different other than it is the 30th year and a larger group of children will be winging their way to the USA.

As part of the fundraising activity to help make the trip possible Koru Care recently held a Race Night at Alexandra Park.

This years Race Night, the second for Koru Care, went well with everyone enjoying themselves.

180 guests help raise almost $7,500 and again the highlight of the night was the Koru Care Cup races where people bid to be jockeys and race on blow up horses.

The Koru Care Cup Races were sponsored by Auckland Adventure Jet, Elephant Hill, Sharp and Voyager Luggage.
The race night was an opportunity for people to come together, enjoy a fun night at the races and at the same time help Koru Care raise funds for their annual trip to Disney Land.

For 30 years Koru Care New Zealand has been taking children from throughout the country on the trip of a lifetime, children from all walks of life – with ongoing medical conditions and terminal illness look forward to the opportunity to get away from it all, and be a real Kiwi kid for a couple of weeks.

And it’s only through the support and generosity of the community that Koru Care are able to provide these trips, and the Koru Care Race Night is one of the ways people support this organisation make wishes come true for children.

"These trips are a highlight for kids from throughout the country, and without the support and generosity of our sponsors and supporters these trips just wouldn’t be possible.” Ann Bain, Chairperson of Koru Care NZ said.

Ann Bain added “We couldn’t do it without our sponsors and the generosity of the public.

“The children who go on our annual trip enjoy themselves and come back with a new lease on life; and this is in part only possible through the support we receive; so on behalf of Koru Care and the many kids we help – a big thank you to our supporters and sponsors is in order – thank you.”
