Sing And The City
Sing And The City
Media release:
Wednesday 24 April
The choir born from a love of music and the city sings its way through popular hits spanning about 80 years at the Court Theatre next week.
The Christchurch Pops Choir presents Gershwin to Gaga, with a repertoire ranging from pop and jazz to rock and gospel with all sorts of tunes in between. As of the weekend, there were only a handful of seats for the 4pm, Sunday 5 May show remaining, so the choir has decided to offer a second performance that evening at 7pm.
Brainchild of Artistic Director Luke Di Somma, the choir was formed in June 2011 as an opportunity for singers of Christchurch to come together and show some much needed love for their beloved broken city.
Since its formation, the choir has grown not only in size and repertoire, but also in popularity.Performances include the February 2012 Earthquake Memorial Service in Hagley Park, 2012 Coca Cola Christmas in the Park, 2012 Champion Canterbury Awards, as well as many community events.
The concerts at the Court Theatre start at 4pm & 7pm, tickets are $20 adult and $7 children. Book online through the Court Theatre website, and be aware that seats are general admission - so arrive early for the best view!
