Quiz on Korea: Win a trip to Korea!

Quiz on Korea: Win a trip to Korea!

Do you know how many members are in K-Pop band Super Junior? When did the Republic of Korea host the FIFA World Cup? What is the capital city of Korea? If you know the answers to these questions you may be eligible to compete for a chance to win a trip to Korea and be a part of a special television program on Korea’s national public broadcaster KBS.

Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Quiz on Korea is visiting New Zealand for the first time in 2013. Preliminary rounds will be held in Auckland (18 May), Christchurch (18 May) and Wellington (25 May) with winners receiving Korean gift packs and invited to the semi-final in Wellington on 22 June. The winner of the New Zealand semi-final will receive a trip to Korea, with airfare and accommodation provided, to attend the final in Seoul where the overall winner will receive a special grand prize, which is still to be announced. In 2012 the overall winner received a Hyundai car.

The Korean Wave, also known as Hallyu, reflects growing interest in Korea and Korean culture around the world. In this regard, the Korean Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr Yongkyu Park, said that the Korean Embassy in Wellington is very proud to bring Quiz on Korea to New Zealand providing New Zealanders an opportunity to experience the Korean Wave. Ambassador Park added that Quiz on Korea is part of ongoing efforts by the Embassy to strengthen the Korea-New Zealand friendship and to deepen understanding of Korea.
