ChristChurch Cathedral Options
April 26 2013
The website set up as part of the public engagement process for the options on ChristChurch Cathedral has had more than 15,000 visits.
The aim of the website, www.cathedralconversations.org.nz is to inform people on the three concepts for the Cathedral. So far the site has received more than 2500 pieces of feedback as well as giving people the option to vote for a preference.
A series of public forums in Christchurch, as well as one in Auckland, have been attended by approximately 500 people. The forums also included an evening for young adults in the Anglican Church in Christchurch.
The Bishop of Christchurch, Bishop Victoria Mathews, says the forums have brought forward issues and options for consideration that the Church Property Trustees are doing further work on as part of the engagement process. Bishop Victoria says it is important that people contribute to what is an important conversation for the church and the community.
The feedback, including questions from forums, will be collected and reviewed as part of the decision making process by the Church Property Trustees. The Trustees are also meeting with a number of different community groups to explain the information and providing the services of specialists such as architects and quantity surveyors.
The public engagement process ends on Friday 3rd May.
