K-POP World Festival: Win a trip to Korea!

K-POP World Festival: Win a trip to Korea!

The K-POP World Festival is coming to New Zealand in 2013 for the first time. If are able to sing or dance, or both, to your favourite K-Pop music then you may be eligible to compete for a chance to win a trip to Korea and appear on a special nationwide television broadcast.

Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the City of Changwon, and Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) preliminary rounds for the 2013 K-POP World Festival are being held in 43 countries around the world, including New Zealand.

The K-Pop World Festival has established itself as one of the largest Hallyu or Korean Wave (popularity of Korean pop culture) festivals where Hallyu fans from across the world are brought together. The Korean Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr Yongkyu Park, said that K-Pop and Hallyu fan groups are continuing to grow in New Zealand. The Ambassador added that he is very proud to offer an opportunity for New Zealanders to experience the Korean Wave and encourages everyone to have a go and enter the K-Pop World Festival.

There are three categories, (1) singing, (2) dancing and (3) singing and dancing, all to your favourite K-Pop music and entries close for the preliminary round online on 30 May 2013. From the online entries, up to 10 preliminary finalists will be shortlisted to compete in person on 22 June in Wellington. Two New Zealand winners will be selected to progress to the semi-finals, judged in Korea from video submissions, from which 15 K-pop teams will be chosen to advance to the final round in Changwon City, Korea, on 20 October 2013. Those selected to advance to the final round will receive a trip to Korea, with airfare and accommodation provided.
