Women Trained to Fight in 12 Weeks
Women Trained to Fight in 12 Weeks
On the 18 May, 24 women will enter into the fighting ring for the very first time in their lives. These women are wives, mothers and employees, who for the past 12 weeks have juggled their busy schedules to fit in 4 - 5 training sessions a week all provided for free of charge by the coaches at Dynamic Martial Arts.
None of these ladies have ever fought before, none are martial arts trained, but they’ve worked hard and have achieved so much in such a short amount of time. Their lives have changed immensely since they first volunteered to take part in the Fight Girls Charity event. Each of these women has had very different reasons for taking up this challenge and each has different expectations. Yet despite having busy lives, they have committed to the intense schedule enthusiastically; they have worked hard, continuously supported and encouraged each other throughout the training program.
“Unlike the shows on TV, the girls will be going home and carrying on with normal life as well” says Dave Sawyer, the brains and creator behind the Fight Girls. Not only is Dave passionate about Fight Girls, but he is an ardent supporter for the charities that the Fight Girls will be raising funds for the Neonatal Trust and the Chariot Trust.
Very shortly, this remarkable group of women will put all their training into practice. The Black team will take on the Yellow team for the ultimate top team prize.
The Fight Night will also feature a local contest between two students – Sheyne at Orewa College and Abbie from Whangaparaoa College. The Black and Yellow team fighters will find out who their opponents are just two hours before they fight. (16 Fights)
Please come along to show your support for our local women and raise awareness for the Neonatal Trust and the Chariot Trust. It’s a great opportunity to watch the match of the year. Tickets are on sale and available from $35. Venue: Orewa Arts & Event Centre. 80 Riverside Drive, Orewa. Doors open from 6:15pm. Fight starts: 7pm Saturday 18th May, 2013.

The
Neonatal Trust - Auckland
The Neonatal Trust supports
families with premature or sick full term babies. Having a
premature baby is an anxious time for parents; the Trust
knows and understands the stress and financial demands that
this has on the family. It aims to support families not just
during the time that baby is in the Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit, but with ongoing care, personal and emotional support
after baby goes home. The trust can also assist with some of
the financial burden for parents going through a difficult
time.
“Committed to supporting these courageous families, the people who care for them, partnering with organisations and people who want to support us.”

The
Chariot Trust
The Chariot Trust aims to build better
communities by working with Auckland youth. The Trust offers
free kickboxing and martial arts programs in a safe
environment, developing leadership, self esteem, discipline
and confidence. There are opportunities to participate in
the Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award Scheme, a Leadership
Program and even the opportunity to represent New Zealand
overseas .The Trust has helped with many young people from
the Hibiscus Coast and the wider area to train and compete
at National and International levels.
The Chariot Trust has successfully had a positive influence on young people that participate in the martial arts program, many of which go on to be high achievers and successful individuals.
