Yay For J Day All Over Aotearoa 2013!
J Day 2013 Yay For J Day All Over Aotearoa
2013!
Wellington Was Exceptional-The Weather Was Not Too Bad-The Reputation As The Windy City Was Confirmed For A Few Hours But It Was A Bloody Nice Day-Especially When The Wind Dropped As We Packed Up With The Sun Leaving Town.
When I Met Up With Phil,He Was waiting For The Bollard Keys That He Left On The Kitchen Table At Home;To Arrive By Special Delivery(Thank You)!
Then It Took A
While For Phil To Work Out That The Bollards Went Down
Instead Of Up!
Anyway The Team Got Stuck In Getting Set
Up And We Only Started 8 Minutes Late!
The First Act Up Was Blackberry-A Really Cool Trio With A Different Style Of Funk,Then Lurch(George) Who Did An Amazing Solo Stint-Especially His Rendition Of "Summertime" From The Black Opera Porgy And Bess!
D.J. Jazz Was Up On His Board Doing Some Real Cool Dub,Reggae And Hip Hop-Especially Enjoyable Was His Compilation Of Marijuana Songs.
Evil Mule-A Gangsta Rap Trio Got Their Message Accross And Did It In A Real Good Style That Was Neat To Listen Too-They Changed The Style Of The Audience During The Set As Some Left And Even More Came-I Wandered Round The Harbour Walk Behind The Venue And Their Sound Was Perfect-Not Too Loud To Offend The Nearby Traders, But They Certainly Drew People In With Their Show.
D.J.Jazz Did Another Set And He Is Keen To Come Back For Next Year-He's Invited For Sure!
The Last Act Up Was The No Problemo-A Bunch Of Guys From Kapiti Who Certainly Performed Exceptionaly Well, With Their Unique Original Material And Marijuana Activism-They Finished Their Set Before Expected And Because They Were So Good They Were Asked To Do An Encore(We Had Plenty Of Time) But The Sound Men Had Beaten Us Too It And Had Pulled Out All the Important Leads, So The Guys Couldn't Respond To The Audience Request To Hear More!
Check Out Their Facebook
Page-The No Problemo-You Will Hear More Of Them, Even Though
They Were Missing Their Lead Singer, Who Is In Aussie At The
Mo!
There Were People From All Over
Aotearoa-Including Three Who Came Up Especially From
Blenheim And The Sister From The Far North Who Was In The
Capital On A Two Week Course.
A Welcome Visiter Was
"Steve"-A Long Ago Marijuana Activist Who Has Been Away Form
The Country For 17 Years-He Spent The Last Five Years In
Spain Smoking The Herb Legally -He Even Showed Us His
Little Spanish Government Marijuana Approval
Card.
BIG THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING:
The Sound Man-Cost 400 Hundred Dollars-Very Reasonable And Great Gear , Sound And Good To Work With, Even If A Bit Keen To Pack Up-He Should Have Breathed The Air And Chilled Out-Not A Criticism Though!
Wellington City Council For The Free Use Of The Venue And Providing The Power.
Phil Saxby For Putting It All Together And Norml Board Member And A.L.C.P. Mana Candidate Richard Goode For All His Efforts And Help.
They Both Addressed The Audience During The Event, On The Issue Of Legalization Etc.
The Brothers Who Put The Alcohol Away When Asked And With No Fuss, Even Though Some Of Them Were Obviously In a State Of Enebriation Etc.
All The People That Donated To "The Captain's Hat"When It Was Carried Around-Over 100 Dollars Was Donated To The Cause.
All The People That Helped By Doing Things, During What Turned Out To Be A Really Top; Cruisy Day.
Phil Sold A Few T Shirts And Gave Away A Lot Of Information And Talked To A Shitload Of People.
Well Done
For Your Efforts Phil-Especially After 30 Plus Years Of
Banging Your Head Against The Wall-But The Cracks Are
Appearing-Keep At It.
For Next Year The Event Must
Be Streamed Live-Maybe We Could Do It Nationwide And Show It
On A Big Screen!
Of Note Was The Phamphlet/Posters Advertising The Event-I Didn't Get Any, Prior To The Event And There Was Others In The Same Boat-Better Distribution Is Needed And I Also Did Not See Any Electronic Copy That Could Have Been Passed On,On Our "E"Networks-Don't Rely On People Visiting Websites-Some Of Us Are Still On Dial Up And Don't Have The Time To Regularly Scan The Various Websites Dealing With The Issue-What Is The Word-Marijuana-It Was Great To Hear Everyone Call It Out Three Times Around Frank Kitts Park!
I Wonder Who The M.C. Was?
Sure
Enough When We Went To Leave, The Bollards Fought Phil
Back-Nothing Like A Bit Of Humour Watching "Frank Spencer"
Doing His Thing!
At One Stage He Left His Car Keys Sitting
Alone In The Door Lock After Being So Security Conscious And
Locking The Car Up All The Time-It Took Him Hours To Notice
That The Passenger Window Was Down And
It Made It Easy
To Access My Own Gear!
.
Keep An Eye Out For White
Flag Meetings Held Monthly At Parliament-They Will Be
Advertised On The Various Sites Won't They
Richard?
Also Keep An Eye Out For Armistice Day
November 11th-We Hope To Bring The March To Parliament Back
This Year And Make It An Annual Event-Keep Yours Eyes And
Ears Open Folks And Spread The Word.

Another Plus From
J Day Is Two Ladies Who Have indicated That They Are
Considering Standing For The A.L.C.P.As Candidates-Hutt
South And Kaikoura-Who Haven't Had A.L.C.P.Candidates Stand
In These Electorates Previously-Great News-Welcome Aboard
The Waka.
My Interesting Journey With J day 2013 Began With A Visit From A.L.C.P.Leader Michael Appleby,Who Told Me Of His Plans To Fly To Christchurch Then Take A Car To Dunedin To Catch 4.20.I told Him I Intended To Attend J Day Wellington To Represent A.L.C.P.And To Help Phil.
I Got A
Call At 7.15am Saturday Morning "I'm At The Airport Can You
Stand In For Me At J Day So I Conformed Caught The Part Time
Otaki Suburban Bus Service To Waikanae And Travelled In To
Town In A New "Matangi"They Are A Good Comfortable Ride.I
Walked Around The Waterfront And Got Some Good Pics Of Some
Interesting Vessells Moored Around The Harbour-Then I Found
A "Locked Out" Phil!
The Journey Home Began With A
Ride From Phil,Down To The Railway Station,Amongst All The
Gear In The Car And With A Willing Helper On Board As
Well. That Was Richard Goode, So We Caught The Train
Together As Far As His Stop At Mana. When I Got To
Waikanae,I Had To Hitch As There Is No Public Transport
Further North At This Time. I Eventually Got A Ride With A
Guy That Had Tossed His Job In Down In Christchurch And Was
Moving Back To Auckland With His Whole Life In The Back Of
His Ute.
He Had Travelled Via Upper Hutt And G.P.S.'D.His
Way Over The Akatarawas Following A Visit To A Friend In
Upper Hutt.
I Offered Him A Coffee And He Was Filling His Instrument With Primo When He Got A Call To Say He Left His Wallett Back In Upper Hutt-He Was Gone In Seconds Flat Without Even Saying What He Was Doing-Bit Strange-I Hope He Had A Safe Journey Back To Auckland In His Extra 90 Kilowatt "Chipped" 2005 Falcon Ute.
At Least It Was A FORD!
I
Got Home At 7.15pm,Satisfyed With Enjoying An Excellent Day
Out,Meeting New People And Making New Friends And
Contacts.
There's Your Written Report Phil-Even "The
Captain Had A Bloody Good Time-Roll On J Day 2014!
