Recycled Materials at National Eco Fashion Runway Event

Recycled Materials at National Eco Fashion Runway Event

This September Dunedin eco designer, Senorita AweSUMO will launch 'Te Warewhare Whakapau' 2013 collection at New Zealand's first National Eco Fashion Runway Event.

New Zealand Eco Fashion Exposed is the perfect platform to launch 'Te Warewhare Whakapau', a collection gathered from Dunedin's local landfill and recycle centres, from commercial waste to found items. Finding a precious resource in what is discarded.

Senorita AweSUMO empowers and encourages ethical and conscious consumers with unique environmental fashion.

Garments up cycled from local landfills, op-shops and commercial off cuts, striving to get maximum use out of environmentally costly textile manufacture processes. Utilising every piece of fabric to make a practical local solution to a global problem.

Senorita AweSUMO is Fiona Clements, Kai Tahu, Pakeha. She grew up in Waitati, Dunedin. Connected closely with nature and environmentally minded, her beliefs are reflected in her sustainable fashion design.

A belief that designers can serve their community by providing solutions to problems they can identify. The garments created are beautiful today, and look forward to a brighter future.

New Zealand Eco Fashion Exposed, the first event of its type, takes place this September 20 – 21, will be held at The Dowse gallery in Lower Hutt.
