Bethany’s Skydive in Aid of Over the Wall

Bethany’s Skydive in Aid of Over the Wall

My name is Bethany Crocker (age 21) and on Monday 1st July I will be doing a 13,000ft skydive at Abel Tasman Skydive in aid of my chosen charity, Over The Wall.

I am from Oxford, England and am currently travelling around New Zealand as a first time visitor. For the rest of the year I am a full time Cell Biology undergraduate student at University College London.

Over The Wall is a FANTASTIC charity that provides activity camps for children and young people affected by serious illnesses. These young people frequently lack confidence as a result of prolonged and isolating treatment. At camp, a fun and positive environment is created where the campers can act their age without worrying about their illnesses. In the presence of others facing similar challenges, feelings of isolation are overcome, confidence grows and friendships are made. Please see their website at www.otw.org.uk

This charity is special to me because I have a great fondness for children and will be working for OTW as a volunteer for the first time later this year. I will be acting as a group leader and will be making sure that the children have as fun a week as possible by singing camp songs, chatting to all the campers and doing great activities with them including wall climbing, abseiling, horse riding and fancy dress parties!

I was motivated to do my skydive in Abel Tasman, NZ after a friend did a skydive here last year and had a brilliant time! It is the perfect location due to the beautiful scenery and friendly locals. I have heard nothing but great things about Abel Tasman Skydive!

Jumping out of a plane at 13,000ft may seem mad to some people (including me at some times) but it will be a great personal challenge for an extremely worthwhile charity.

Friends, family and others at home have been extremely generous with their please dig deep and give what you can at: www.justgiving.com/bethanycrocker
