Gap 5 Heads Home As the X Factor Nz Top 5 Is Decided
The final five acts competing for The X Factor NZ crown were decided tonight after Gap 5 was eliminated from the competition on the LIVE Results Show. The Top 5 are Benny Tipene, Whenua Patuwai, Cassie Henderson, Jackie Thomas, and Moorhouse.
Sunday’s Performance Show saw the remaining six acts perform songs ‘Made in the USA’. Gap 5 and Cassie received the lowest number of public votes and tonight sang for their survival in front of the judges.
Gap 5 sang the Bruno Mars hit Locked Out of Heaven and was sent home by the judges.
Tonight Gap 5 said: “We couldn't have gone up against a more amazing artist, and we love Cassie to bits. We couldn’t have gone out on a better note and are blessed to have had this experience.”
Mentor Melanie Blatt said: “I’m going to use my contacts to help these girls because I truly believe they have what it takes to be an international act.”
Judges Ruby Frost, and Daniel Bedingfield each have two acts in the Top 5, while Melanie Blatt has one group still in the running for The X Factor NZ crown. Stan Walker has no acts left in the competition.
The remaining five acts will take the stage at 7pm, Sunday 7 July, to sing for their survival in the next LIVE Performance Show.
