Cassie Henderson Eliminated As ‘the X Factor Nz’ Semi-finalists Are Named

Benny Tipene, Jackie Thomas, Moorhouse and Whenua Patuwai are The X Factor NZ semi-finalists after tonight’s deadlock elimination saw Cassie Henderson voted out of the competition.

Sunday’s Performance Show saw The X Factor NZ Top 5 perform songs chosen by the public as part of COKE Choice week.  Whenua and Cassie received the lowest number of public votes and tonight sang for their survival in front of the judges in the LIVE Results Show.

After Whenua performed ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ (by R Kelly), and Cassie sang Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’, the judges’ votes were tied, sending the decision into deadlock.  Cassie had the lowest number of public votes, and was eliminated.

Tonight Cassie said: “Thank you for all your support and for believing in me. I’m so grateful.”

Mentor Daniel Bedingfield said: “Cassie was the one that made me excited about judging this competition.  She connected in a way I’ve never seen before and I can’t wait to see what she does next.”

Tonight’s elimination leaves Ruby Frost as the only judge with two acts in The X Factor NZ semi-finals.  Daniel Bedingfield and Melanie Blatt each have one remaining act, while Stan Walker has no acts left in the competition.

The four semi-finalists take the stage at 7pm, Sunday 14 July, to sing for their survival in the next LIVE Performance Show.
