TV Interview World Record Intact

TV Interview World Record Intact

A recent attempt in Norway to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Television Interview has been reclassified by Guinness as it was not broadcast live on television. It was instead given its own new category “Longest Live Interview Streamed Over the Internet”.

This means the 26 hours and 4 second record set by Tom Conroy and Tim Shadbolt in April 2012 remains in place to the delight of all those involved in the successful event.

“We knew there would be few national television stations prepared or able to dedicate that amount of airtime for future attempts hence confident our record would stand for many years to come,” says Mr Conroy.

The Norwegian media were quick to spread the word about Mads A. Andersen and Olav Lahlum “breaking the record”, making regular contact with both Mr Conroy and Mr Shadbolt during their attempt but there was always doubt in the minds of the holders that it was conducted under the same criteria.

“Two people at home with a webcam could stream a discussion in their living room but that’s a far cry from organising an event on the scale that CUE TV staged.”

At the time Mr Shadbolt was also defiant that should the Guinness ruling fall in favour of the pretenders to the crown, he was confident that the two Southlanders could stretch the mark out to 40 hours if needed.
“Tom cut me off mid-stream when we hit 26 hours and I’m dying to finish my story!”
