Tarnished Frocks and Divas tickets selling out

Strong Ticket Sales Support Larger Venue for Tarnished Frocks and Divas

Seats for the 2013 Tarnished Frocks and Divas show are selling out rapidly

TAURANGA, Monday 22 July 2013: The popularity of past Tarnished Frocks and Divas shows has encouraged the trustees to take a gamble on moving this year’s show to a larger venue, increasing tickets from 2,300 to 5,000 over five performances.

The show will now be held at the ASB Arena in Tauranga with stars Jackie Clarke and Annie Crummer heading a cast of 100.

With 4,000 tickets already snapped up, the relocation is paying off with the remainder expected to sell through within the month. Organisers are assuring people that every seat has a great view.

Trustee and co-producer Anne Pankhurst says this year’s show is the most ambitious to date.

“To increase the numbers attending the show without increasing the time demands on our volunteers meant a bigger venue, so we have designed the stage and seating at the ASB Arena to maintain the intimacy that has been so appreciated by our audiences.

“The whole ethos of the show is based on giving people who may have never been involved in something like this an opportunity to shine and experience personal growth - this is intrinsic to the show. It’s about the journey for everyone involved,” says Pankhurst.

Tarnished Frocks and Divas 2013 is a journey in more ways than one. While one of the attractions of the biennial show is the secrecy that surrounds it until opening night, the title “A Fabulous Journey of Discovery,” is enough to suggest that travel is involved.

“It’s a journey of discovery from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. We work hard to keep the surprise element and the atmosphere we create is vital to the whole experience.”

Tarnished Frocks and Divas 2103 opens Wednesday 28 August and runs until Saturday 31 August, with two performances on the final day. “Our matinee times are really popular, as lots of children attend along with those who prefer not to go out on a cold night,” says Pankhurst.

ABOUT TARNISHED FROCKS AND DIVAS

Tarnished Frocks and Divas 2013 is a unique performing arts and fashion show focusing on retro clothing that has been revamped into contemporary styles.

All models and performers are required to be 40 years and over - many have never modelled, sung or acted in public before. Despite their lack of experience, the show is incredible and a sell out every year.

The show’s mission is to inspire women to continue to challenge themselves, create new goals and to be a positive influence on their families, friends and the wider community. People travel from all around New Zealand to watch the show.
