Out and About – Margaret Digby
Rural Ashburton based artist Margaret Digby has been painting from an early age and is now a full time painter, often painting on site then finishing off her work in the studio. Digby has experimented with a number of different mediums including printmaking. She enjoys both contemporary and abstract art and finds the ever changing colors and shapes of the landscape a source of inspiration.
Her work has a distinct geometrical orderliness of abstract hard-edge while others are a simple grid of squares and diagonals all linked to the grid.
“My aim is to allow the paintings to speak for themselves. Art is like a language, you have to learn it and then you have to keep on painting and challenge yourself.”
Exhibition opening Saturday 21 September at 1:30pm
September 21 – October 13 2013
