New Zealand, 16 September 2013 – Leading Toyota Racing Series team, ETEC Motorsport, have undertaken a talent scouting trip to Europe to enlist up and coming driving talent for the 2014 championship.
Team Principal Trevor Sheumack last weekend visited the World Series by Renault event at the Hungaroring, meeting with drivers and managers with a comprehensive TRS/ETEC information package to encourage new blood into the series.
With the Toyota Racing Series now renowned in open wheel circles as a world class option for driver development and ‘seat time’ in the European winter, Sheumack and ETEC Chief Engineer Marcus Koch – who was present at the Nurburgring running Carlos Sainz Jr in the Zeta Corse Renault World Series 3.5 machine – are equally confident of a classy line up for this year’s championship.
“I was very encouraged by the feedback we received at the Hungaroring, and it bodes well not only for ETEC but for the Toyota Racing Series as a whole,” Sheumack said.
“Everybody knew of the TRS and spoke very highly of the championship and its position within the open wheel pathway’s hierarchy. It’s a credit to New Zealand motorsport and to Toyota, and we will continue on to additional events now to build a strong team for the 2014 series.”
Sheumack will also visit Rockingham in the United Kingdom and the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix en route home, with the end goal to lock in a key driver line up to bring the team more race wins and an elusive Championship crown.
“We are working harder than ever to provide the most professional, classy environment for our visiting drivers and an equally impressive package on the race track.
“We will plan to roll out driver announcements in the coming weeks as we prepare for another exciting season of racing in the Toyota Racing Series.”
