Entries are open for Taupō’s very own wearable art competition, Creative Catwalk. It’s a fundraising event for Lake Taupō Hospice with sensational prizes across five categories.
“We’re thrilled to have so much support from local sponsors and suppliers,” says event organiser Lyn Young. “As well as creating a new fundraising event for hospice, there’s more than $2000 prize money – it’s definitely worth having a go.”
Categories include pre-school, primary, intermediate and high school as well as the general public with inspiration from the environment, supermarket and the Hospice shop. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.laketaupohospice.co.nz or collected from Hospice House in Sunset Street.
“We didn’t want any barriers to students being able to enter and there’s no entry fee,” says Lyn. “We hope to raise funds for hospice through ticket sales and the amazing auction items that have been donated.”
Creations will be shown off on the catwalk at Taupō Golf Club on Thursday 17 October. Lyn says Taupō’s ‘Point of View’, who made it to the top 100 in New Zealand’s X-Factor will provide entertainment on the night.
“We want to showcase hospice and the Hospice Shop to young people and creating this event, which involves schools seemed a great way to do it,” says Lyn.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children and available from Hospice House, 7 Sunset Street or the Hospice Shop in the Totara Point shopping centre.
