The National announce support act......LULUC

Luluc are excited to announce their debut performance in New Zealand. They will open up for The National at Vector Arena on February 4th and perform songs from their upcoming second album - Passerby. Zoe Randell and Steve Hassett, who comprise the heart of the band, recorded Passerby with producer Aaron Dessner (The National) and friends in his now-famous Brooklyn garage. Based in Brooklyn since 2010, these will be Luluc's first shows in their native Australia for 3 years and their first time playing in New Zealand.

Luluc's minimalist debut, Dear Hamlyn (2008) continues to win them new fans. Recorded and mixed in the attic of a historic Melbourne house, it is a dedication to Zoe’s late father. The album has gone on to achieve a cult following among both legendary and current figures in music. All are enchanted with the powerful stillness at the core of the sound. Peter Blackstock (editor ‘No Depression’ magazine) said of their debut: Dear Hamlyn is the most beautiful record I have heard in 10 years”. Legendary producer Joe Boyd was so enamored, he toured them with his sold out Nick Drake shows and cut 1000 vinyl singles of their rendition of 'Things Behind the Sun' for record store day 2013.

Luluc are a mesmerising and singular live act on top of being majestic on record. They have been invited to open tours for major artists (Lucinda Williams, Fleet Foxes among them) as well playing large festivals in Australia and North America. With the anticipation building about the upcoming release of their second album, this is music that has and will continue to achieve a sustained influence on music lovers.
"I played it again and again, and finally I was like ‘who the hell is this person?" - Joe Boyd, producer Nick Drake & many others, talking about Luluc's Dear Hamlyn on BBC Radio.
