Support for 'A Thousand Hills'
The original piece of theatre, which blew away theatregoers with its heartbreaking yet profoundly cathartic storytelling in 2011, is back on stage this year. A THOUSAND HILLS, written by Mike Hudson and directed by me (Margaret-Mary Hollins), brings to life the horrific genocidal mass slaughter that took place in Rwandan in 1994, one of the most tragic events in the history of mankind. However, this isn't another play which grabs eyeballs through shock value. On the contrary, its beauty lies in uncovering a true story of undying love and hope amidst the backdrop of sheer hatred and violence. A THOUSAND HILLS is also among those few plays which have the lead actor - Francois Byamana - enacting his own life on stage.
As the stellar cast and crew begin their preparations to move and empower the audience once again, the task of raising the required funds for the project remains and we ardently seek your support for the same. Please see the link below for the fundraising campaign we have set up with Boosted (initiated by the Arts Foundation – to assist arts organisations to raise project funding). Apart from funding, spreading the word about the campaign to your networks would be a big boost to the project to start with. We are touring the show outside Auckland on demand this year, but it is supporters like you who can help us take this important story to a larger audience.
