A unique alternative to the land-locked Christmas Function

The sunset harbour cruise on Raglan’s Whaingaroa Harbour has captured the imagination of thousands of locals and visitors alike since its launch three years ago.

Founder and skipper Charlie Young says the 15 meter vessel, ‘Wahinemoe’ has proved to be a hit with day trippers to the laid back west coast town and residents who have grabbed the chance to climb aboard for the fish ‘n chip cruise and get close up views of the ancient limestone rock formations the sunset and the stunning view of the Whaingaroa harbour.

The Wahinemoe is also gaining popularity as a unique accommodation experience, where visitors can enjoy a secluded location on the harbour, with an outdoor spa bath, king size bed, romantic fireplace, music and all the trims, complete with complementary Raglan transport on the Wahinemoe's electric bus.

As word has travelled Young says, the Wahinemoe has also become a highly favoured function venue with corporate and private clients travelling from as far away as UK for the experience which comes with jazz quartet, DJ, tailored themes, on-deck barbeque and catering.

“We cater for groups of up to 70 people and the experience is seen as a unique alternative to the land-locked Christmas function,” Young Says.

Young says Raglan is now a highly sought after destination, not just because of its famous surf beaches, artists and music scene, but because of the wide range of quality activities available at very affordable prices.
