Ride The Rhythm Secures World’s Best Abba Show

Ride The Rhythm Secures World’s Best Abba Show

It has performed to international critical acclaim in over 6000 shows in more than 80 countries, given private performances for celebrities, royalty and for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and now is billed to headline at Ride the Rhythm in the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on February 1 next year; it is the world’s number one ABBA Show, Bjorn Again.

Ride the Rhythm’s inaugural event earlier this year, with its unique combination of world class equestrian action and an international music act, proved to be an absolute crowd pleaser. EventPro Director, Kevin Hansen says he’s excited to be bringing Ride the Rhythm back to Dunedin next year and thrilled that he’s secured the world’s ultimate ABBA experience.

Bjorn Again has been credited, by ABBAs Björn Ulvaeus, as the band that triggered the great ABBA revival of the 90’s when it began performing in 1989, six years after ABBA had disbanded. Bjorn Again’s international appeal has never waned and next year will celebrate its 25th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of ABBA’s Eurovision win.

Bjorn Again sang at Russell Crowe’s wedding, performed ‘’Money, Money, Money’ for Bill Gates at a private party, ‘Dancing Queen’ for royals Andrew and Fergie, and in 2009 were hired by the Kremlin and taken on a ten hour journey to a clandestine and heavily guarded rendezvous to perform for eight people; Vladimir Putin, an unidentified woman and six unidentified men in tuxedoes.

Kevin Hansen says, “Bjorn Again has such universal appeal. It is much more than a well executed ABBA show it has a rockier edge and hilarious parody and theatrical components which people of any age or music taste can enjoy which is why it has fans as diverse as David Beckham, Tom Jones, Rowan ‘Mr Bean’ Atkinson, U2, Robert Plant and Metallica. It is compelling live entertainment. ABBA songs are infectious, people will want to be on their feet dancing. It’s really going to be one big party.”

Aside from VIP tickets, with allocated stand seating and seating on the pitch directly in front of the stage, every other seat in the stadium will be General Admission. As the equestrian action is centred in the middle of the pitch, with the concert on stage at one end in the Otago Daily Times Stand, the best vantage points for enjoying both differ. So to maximise everyone’s experience those with General Admission tickets will be allowed to move seats or alternatively move down onto the pitch for the concert.

Kevin Hansen says “We want to give people the choice to sit or stand as close to the concert as is possible but also be able to have a great view of the suspense and thrill of the equestrian entertainment.”

Ticket prices for general admission are $59 for those who live south of the Waitaki, $69 for those from elsewhere; $120 for a family of two adults and two children; $80 for one adult and one child. VIP tickets are $135 and include a souvenir Ride the Rhythm cushion, entry to the Forsyth Barr Stadium Bar and free nibbles. Booking fees apply.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 22nd October at www.ticketdirect.co.nz and at all Ticket Direct outlets including the Regent Theatre and the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Next Monday the ODT will offer its subscribers a special deal for tickets to Ride the Rhythm.
