2013 Pacific Beer Expo Lineup Announced

Hashigo Zake takes pleasure in announcing the provisional list of beers that will be available for tasting at the 2013 Pacific Beer Expo on October 27. A few entries await final confirmation and one or two will be added to this list.

While arguably every beer can be considered a highlight in its own right, certain beers will have extra interest. Not least of these is Our Turn Your Turn - the collaboration between locals Yeastie Boys and Massachusetts’ Pretty Things, which is a pale wheat ale with Lindenflower added.

The list include three beers from Singapore, one from Japan, three from Australia, fourteen from New Zealand, fifteen from the US and one international collaboration.

In terms of styles, there are seven IPAs or Imperial IPAs, three saisons, four flavoured wheat beers and ten porters, stouts or imperial stouts.

Adherents to the archaic Reinheitsgebot, or German Beer Purity Law, will be squirming, with many of the beers imbued with additional flavours from adjuncts such as pink pepper, mace, rosehips, orange peel, chillies, civet cat coffee and hemp.

Meanwhile anyone daunted by the promise of big and extreme flavours can be reassured that there are also at least seven beers with alcohol levels at or below 5%.
