Graham Henry to Be Keynote Speaker for Charity Dinner

A charity dinner with its sights set on raising vital funds for the United Way organisation will feature rugby legend Graham Henry as its keynote speaker.

Insurance company Asteron Life is a key sponsor of the event following their commitment to be a corporate partner for United Way in June this year. Asteron Life managing director David Carter says it is proud as an organisation to be supporting United Way. “The work United Way does for charities throughout New Zealand is extremely important to the community. We want to help them continue to enable more and more small charities to make a real difference in people’s lives.”

To be held on Thursday night, 31 October at the Villa Dalmacija Building in Mt Eden, Graham Henry’s speech will focus on leadership and how he got the All Blacks prepared to win the Rugby World Cup, including how they overcame the previous tournament’s defeat.

The former All Black coach who took New Zealand rugby to win the World Cup will talk to the largely corporate audience about team building and how to develop a culture of success.

The event is not to be missed and includes a full buffet, canapés, drinks, entertainment, a charity auction, corporate awards and music and networking. Items to be auctioned include accommodation, travel, beautification, food, massages and sports memorabilia such as clothing and souvenirs.

United Way NZ chief executive Don Oliver says he is thrilled Graham Henry has accepted their invitation to share his vast international sporting experience and answer questions from the floor for the fundraising event.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Graham Henry accept our invitation. All proceeds from the fundraising will aid the vital ongoing work United Way undertakes in New Zealand which last year funded over 100 charities. That was despite last year being one of the most financially difficult for the charitable sector.”

Mr Oliver expressed “A big thank you to Graham Henry and to our sponsors Asteron Life, Lion, and Altezano Brothers for making this event possible.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling 09 377 2544 or emailing frances@unitedway.org.nz
