How to tell the difference between a rainbow and a tiger
How do you tell the difference between a rainbow and a
tiger?
There’ll be no excuse after the Tauranga Boat Expo for not knowing a rainbow trout from a brown trout or a tiger – trout that is.
The Expo runs from Friday, November 8 to Sunday 10, 2013.
Eastern Fish & Game staff will take an aquarium of live trout from the Ngongotaha hatchery to the three day Expo, and will be on hand to provide expert fishing tips and advice.
Fish & Game officer Mark Sherburn says that with the number of keen boaties and anglers who pass through the show, it’s well worth turning out.
"With so many Rotorua lakes to choose and so much scope for catching trout using different methods, this is a great opportunity to come and pick our brains,” he says. “We will be well armed with brochures and sharing lots of tips and knowhow.
"We want to make sure that Tauranga fishos are up with the play on what magnificent fishing is available almost on their doorstep. The lakes offer a more tranquil and very different experience to sea fishing, and we urge people not to bypass Rotorua when they want to get a fresh water fix."
Mr Sherburn says it’s a good opportunity for parents who bring their kids along to the Expo to see brown, rainbow and tiger trout up close. And their stand will also feature fishing equipment and maps and brochures to help anglers home in on some good spots to catch some trout.
The Expo
is well timed with the three key lakes of Tarawera, Okataina
and Rotoiti open for business again after their winter
closure, and some nice fish being caught using trolling and
jigging
techniques.
