Tickets on Sale for Harbourview Sculpture Trail

Tickets are now on sale for one of Auckland’s most enchanting outdoor art experiences, the Harbourview Sculpture Trail. Set amongst salt marshes, native flaxes and bush with the Harbour Bridge in the skyline, the Harbourview Sculpture Trail, in Te Atatu Peninsula is a journey of discovery, showcasing a wide range of sculpture and art.

Harbourview Sculpture Trail Curator, Sally Lush, said more than 50 artists from throughout New Zealand with Trish Clarke from Ngunguru in the North to Russell Beck from Invercargill in the South, have been selected to showcase their work.

“The Harbourview Sculpture Trail stands apart as a unique trail as the sculptures chosen relate to this unique area and tell of the history and ecology. The pieces address social and political issues of Te Atatu and the wider Auckland area.

“Each piece of art is exhibited in its own mini environment allowing the works to be viewed without distractions. The sculpture trail will be a visual feast and a trail of discovery as pieces are located down tracks encouraging exploration.”

“We are delighted that emerging and established New Zealand artists have committed their time and experience to making this trail possible,” she said.

With stunning views of the Waitemata Harbour, Auckland CBD and Harbour Bridge, the Trail is an easy one hour stroll for the whole family.

The exhibition includes onsite kids activities including a 'Creation Station' hosted by Lopdell House Gallery - Art in a Box, a 'Peninsula Beats' evening presented by The Luscious Food Store, an open Photographic Competition and a People’s Choice Award for the most popular sculpture, as voted by the public. Curated Tours will run over various days each week for the duration of the Trail.

Many of the exclusive art installations are available for purchase, with any residual profits from art sales being redistributed into the community.

The Harbourview Sculpture Trail, hosted by charitable organistion Peninsula Arts Inc, runs from 8th - 30th March 2014 and is open daily from 10am – 6pm.

Sally Lush – Short bio
Sally Lush is an independent exhibition curator, event manager and practicing artist with a broad experience gained from 20 years managing art galleries and art projects in the Auckland area. In 1993 Lush established Art by the Sea and in 1999 Art Of This World, both galleries in Devonport selling a wide range of unique art by emerging and established New Zealand artists. Lush project managed the establishment of Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens (2008) also curating the annual exhibitions of sculpture and project managed and curated the establishment of the inaugural Harbourview Sculpture Trail, Te Atatu Peninsula (2012).
