Cambridge-based Commonwealth Games aspirant Camille Buscomb praises sponsors during RadioLIVE interview

COMMONWEALTH GAMES aspirant and Cambridge-based runner Camille Buscomb was quick to thank her sponsors when she was interviewed on RadioLIVE in Auckland last weekend.

Buscomb, who is on track to qualify for the late July-August Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, is sponsored by Hamilton-based social media and PR company MediaPA, New Balance, Hamilton-based Argent Motor Lodge, hairdressers The Engine Room, Waikato Chiropractic and Health Performance Chiropractic.

And she was quick to sing their praises when being interviewed by Dave Worsley and Jeff McTainsh at the RadioLIVE studio in Ponsonby.

“The last few months, especially, it’s been really helpful having the sponsors who have gotten on board with me,” she said during the interview.

Camille Buscomb thanked Hamilton-based MediaPA’s chief executive Phillip Quay for the work he has done in promoting her and attracting sponsors.

“He’s been really amazing,” she said.

Buscomb also spoke highly about Clare and Richard Gallagher of Ardent Motor Lodge in Hamilton.

“Clare and Richard have been really awesome in terms of supporting me and having belief in my athletics.”

She said having Kaleb Phillippe and his team at the Engine Room as a sponsor meant she did not have to worry about getting her hair done.

New Balance has been “amazing” during their near two-year association with her, while Buscomb also appreciated the support of Cambridge-based Waikato Chiropractic – which is owned by her father Lloyd – and Michael Hooker of Health Performance Chiropractic.

Camille Buscomb also spoke during her RadioLIVE interview about how her parents were relieved when she finally settled on athletics as her chosen sport.

As a child, she was “full of energy” and partook in “every sport known to mankind”.

“I think mum and dad were excited when I found athletics because I was getting more tired and manageable,” says Buscomb.

“They were like, ‘Yes, send her along to training and she is normal. It was like a sigh of relief when I found my coach.”
