Kopua Ruled Out With Patella Tendon Injury
Silver Ferns captain Casey Kopua has been ruled out of any Netball for at least six months after scans today revealed a ruptured patella tendon injury (the tendon that attaches the kneecap to the shin).
Kopua is due to undergo surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) to repair the tendon and will come under the care of Netball New Zealand medical staff as she begins the road to recovery and rehabilitation.
The 29 year old suffered the devastating injury in the final quarter of the third test match against the Australian Diamonds in Sydney on Saturday night, and was able to fly back to Auckland on Sunday with the team and her family.
Kopua will not be part of the Team for the New World Netball Series for the Taini Jamison Trophy against England later this month and the FAST5 Netball World Series in November.
