Venus In Transit - Palmerston North Wildcard Chart Double

Venus In Transit Complete a Palmerston North Wildcard Chart Double

They promised to try again after coming 2nd last month, and now Venus In Transit are October’s winners of theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart. The Palmerston North band only just missed out on the September chart, finishing just behind fellow Palmy locals ReZist, but they’ve made it a Manawatu double by winning the October chart with their song “Rescue Me”. It was no sure thing, as Emily Rice held the number 1 spot for much of the month with “On the Road to Moab”, but a strong late push in the last few days of the month just got Venus In Transit over the line to claim the $10,000 Wildcard Making Tracks Grant from NZ On Air Music.

Speaking to theaudience.co.nz after their win, Venus In Transit say the win caps off a strong couple of years for the band. “We are really overwhelmed and excited to win the Wildcard Chart. It’s an amazing reward for all the hard work and dedication we have put into the band over the last two years.”

VIT say they are truly grateful for the support they received, particularly from their crew in Palmerston North. “We couldn't have done it without the perseverance of our friends and fans over the last two months. We've received such an incredible amount of support which we as a band are truly grateful for.”

The band also extended their thoughts to this month’s runner-up. “Lastly we would like to wish all the best to Emily Rice for the future, she is such a talented artist and really pushed us this month.” In the end, it was only a few dozen votes between them, and theaudience.co.nz would like to applaud Emily on running such a good campaign. Maybe we’ll see you at the top of the Wildcard Chart in the future!

Congratulations Venus In Transit, winners of theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart for October 2014! Listen to their winning tune “Rescue Me” here. The end of October marks a very special new chart month, as November will be the last Wildcard Making Tracks grant for 2014.
