Middleweight 8 Man: Pace, Power
Precision
Backing up the enormous success of August’s Cruiserweight eight man elimination tournament, KING IN THE RING returns with the pace, power and pure skill of the middleweights at Auckland’s ASB Stadium on Saturday November 8.
Kickboxing super promoter Jason Suttie has pulled together a superb eight man field, featuring New Zealand’s leading international 72 kilo professional campaigners and most promising up and comer’s.
“We’ve selected guys who come to fight and possess X factor skills, raw power and the mentality to upset the apple cart.
“KING IN THE RING, is about delivering great entertainment through matching up exciting fighting styles, and we’ve chosen fighters who fit that bill and can challenge for the $10,000 winners cheque.”
Along side two-time finalist Edwin Sammy, the jewel in the line up’s crown is former Commonwealth Champion, Mike “Blood Diamond” Tambo who has recently returned from 18 months successful campaigning on the lucrative Chinese circuit.
The 23 year old, has given up several big money fights abroad to fight on the prestigious knock out tournament, which is to be televised on SKY SPORT and in Australia.
“There is no bigger honour than competing back at home on such a talent stacked card – it’s a privilege to be invited, and I’m intent on banking that $10,000 cheque for Christmas.
Twice bridesmaid Sammy, however has no intention of being left waiting at the alter three times running.
“I’ve had the toughest run in the tournament on two occasions, fighting the final last time with a broken rib.
“With my experience and preparation fully on track I’ll be making my own luck come Saturday evening.
The remainder of the field includes multiple NZ Champion Jake Crane, former Hong Kong and South Pacific Champion Harley Love, Kyukoshin Kicking specialist Chris Eades, Wellington’s Brook Haami, Christchurch hard man Brooke Sutton and the brutal flying Fijian Carlos Hicks from Hamilton.
A stacked under card features four trans-Tasman Super fights highlighted by the return of 125-kilo behemoth Pauli “The Barbarian” Lakai after a year out of the ring.
