BC4BC raises in excess of $15,000
Over one hundred pink-clad women and men ran, jumped and danced around the Nelson College for Girls gymnasium today during the Nelson Regional Breast & Gynaecological Trust’s annual Boot Camp for Breast Cancer (BC4BC), helping to raise a total of $15,000.
The event’s sponsors donated $9,000 while individual registrations and individual sponsorships brought in over $4,000. The remainder raised was through the sale of raffle tickets and refreshments.
Trust founder Kate Coote says, “It’s been another great fundraising event for the trust, and we’re truly awed with the support we’ve had, and of course we have to thank the community of participants there on the day for making it such a success. Everyone said they had a grand time.”
Trainers from Wairua Body Coaching Systems put participants through their paces, having them play games, dance and pass balloons through legs. Participants were clad in every variation of pink garment from bras and ballerina tutus to glitter wigs and butterfly wings. Tasman Makos player, David Havili, swapped his team strip for pink to take part, and helped Breffni O’Rourke judge the best dressed woman, man and team.
All money raised at BC4BC for the Nelson Regional Breast & Gynaecological Cancer Trust stays in the top of the South Island.
