New local gaming vlog launches!
Press Release - New local gaming vlog launches!
The locally produced vlog Beyond The Achievements launches this weekend with a public event at Golding’s Free Dive in Wellington.
Beyond the Achievements is a vlog (video blog) that looks at the world of geekery in all of its forms, but mainly video games. Hosts Amber Craig, Hadyn Green and Michelle Baker interview an array of incredibly interesting and geeky kiwis, discuss the burning issues in gaming and take on challenges to bring video games into the real world as well.
How does Call of Duty compare to firing real life weapons? Can Wii sports make you a better bowler? Are you really a rock star when you play Guitar Hero? Amber and Hadyn take on these real world challenges to bring you the answers.
What makes gamers more aggressive: violent games or ones that are too difficult? If there’s been a study done on gaming then Michelle will find it and discuss the implication of the findings with a panel of deep thinking experts.
As the series continues Beyond the Achievements will explore further into the world of gaming and wider geekery. After all, aren’t we all geeks for something?
The Beyond the Achievements launch party kicks off at 2pm this Sunday (November 23rd) Golding’s Free Dive in central Wellington. There will be a screening of the first episode and a teaser for the rest of the series. There will also be cake! (Not a lie).
Following the screening there’ll be a Tekken tournament, with the winner taking away a copy of crazy shoot-em-up Sunset Overdrive and open world racer Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox One thanks to Microsoft!
Golding’s Free Dive is Wellington’s geekiest beer bar and winner of Outstanding Local Establishment at this year’s Capital Awards. Their twitter bio says “You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy” showing off owner Sean Golding’s obsession with Star Wars. Still the only Wellington bar with a game console.
