WHORE: Stage to Screen
Charlatan clinic’s most recent theatre work ‘Whore’ has now been adapted to screen. ‘Whore’ is a collection of stories about street sex workers from Auckland, New Zealand. The play has performed successfully in 2014 at alternative venues including Lifewise Merge Cafe in May/June, Lot 23 Studio in July, then toured to Wellington showcasing at BATS (Out of Site) in late September.
Fergusson has been working with a small team of creatives to start the process with one short film already in post-production.
‘Illegal Migrant’ will be screened in early 2015, with plans to take all 6 short films internationally, on the festival circuit.
The talented core cast for ‘Illegal Migrant’ includes Geraldine Creff (Illegal Migrant), Jennie Cruse (Patron), Carl Drake (John) and Becky Kuek (Maria) in this real-time snippet of this sex worker’s life.
