A celebration of what makes Waipa great

A celebration of what makes Waipa great

Waipa residents and businesses will soon be able to share what’s great about their district through a special edition glossy magazine.

The 68-page publication, called Love Waipa, showcases all that’s special about the area and highlights 150 “great things” in keeping with the celebration of the district’s 150th year.

The magazine is being published by the Cambridge and Te Awamutu i-SITEs with support from local sponsors and advertisers.

Though it has a retail cover price of $4.95, Waipa residents will receive an initial free copy in their mail during December.

Local businesses will be able to use the magazine as a tool for attracting customers and staff while the i-SITEs and tourism businesses will use it to encourage visitors to the district. .

“We wanted a magazine that summed up why we love living here,” Cambridge Information Centre Chair, Stephen Williams said.

“For residents and businesses already residing here, we expect the publication will confirm the reasons they made the decision to settle in Waipa. We expect they will want to share it with friends and family outside Waipa. New residents will also find it a wealth of information about our district.”

“And we hope it will also help others to look afresh at Waipa, or learn about it for the first time, and consider coming here, whether it’s to live, work, play or do business.”

“There are so many great things about living in Te Awamutu and the Waipa that we had trouble deciding what to leave out,” Te Awamutu Information Centre Chair, Chris Grenfell said.

“It’s great to have a publication that we can share with friends and family who don’t know about all the great things the Waipa has to offer..”

The high-quality publication is full of information and images that show what Waipa has to offer residents and visitors. It contains eight sections, each covering a special feature of Waipa.

The eight sections, with sponsors, are Agribusiness (Fieldays), Community (CommSafe), Education (Te Wananga o Aotearoa), Equine (Cambridge Equine Hospital), Aviation (Hamilton Airport and Titanium Park), Sport and Recreation (Waipa District Council), Commercial (Waipa Networks), Tourism (Cambridge and Te Awamutu i-SITEs).

More than 25,000 copies will be distributed.

Mayor Jim Mylchreest officially launched the publication, presenting preview copies to a Friends of Council function at the Cambridge Town Hall this week (Thursday November 27).

“Love Waipa presents an amazing compilation of all our district has to offer,” he says in the magazine’s foreword. “It is a wonderful celebration of our district in its 150th year.”
