Different abilitied Fringe show takes off

After a
sell out development season, WAKE UP TOMORROW promises to
return with a bang. This time audiences better make sure
they’ve booked a ticket in joining these eccentric
passengers in the journey of a lifetime.
Made under the guidance of Wellington theatre makers in collaboration with Active, a service for intellectually disabled youth. WAKE UP TOMORROW was created from the minds of these incredible young people.
Audiences will be transported from the mundane moments on a long haul flight to bizarre and hilarious scenarios. We’re not entirely sure of the destination; we just know the journey’s one not to miss.
Isobel MacKinnon takes over the director’s role in helping to lead this celebratory, challenging and empowering work to Circa One during Wellington’s Fringe Festival.
Having received the Creative New Zealand award for Most Original Production for her co-created and directed show in the 2014 New Zealand Fringe Festival, Isobel with the support of the Everybody Cool Lives Here team will mentor these emerging practitioners in all aspect’s of this creative platform to ensure their creative voice will shine.
Please fasten your seat belt, make sure you’re in the upright position and thanks for flying Active Airlines!
“Wake Up Tomorrow captures the half-dream state
the brain can slip into when we are trapped in a plane on a
long-haul flight. Moments of mundane reality morph into
surreal extrapolations: a clever convention that almost
justifies anything and everything that occurs in whatever
way it happens. An absolutely ‘fit for purpose'
production.”
John Smythe, Theatreview.org.nz
“There’s a sense of mischief and of joy throughout
this production; the cast throw themselves into their roles
with a level of commitment that any actor would do well to
aspire to.”
