Aiga Tautai Helps Out with Gaualofa Navigation
After an
overnight in Auckland where they were welcomed and hosted by
the Pacific Collective, the Gaualofa crew drove back to the
Bay of Islands to continue with the last leg of the their
voyage into Auckland.
Before leaving, tautai Aiiloilo Dr. Elise Puni of the Aiga Tautai in Auckland handed the crew with New Zealand charts covering the Bay of Islands to the Hauraki Gulf, a guide of New Zealand tides and a set of emergency lights for man over board.
Also there to farewell the crew were members of the 'falelua o le aiga tufuga' (Samoa traditional navigators fraternity) and ’falefa o le aiga Salevaeolo’ (Samoa traditional seamen fraternity).
The Gaualofa is expected to arrive at Okahu Bay, Orakei in Auckland on Wednesday at 3pm.
