World Class Kiwi Talent On Display At The Avantidrome

New Zealand’s top track cyclists including Olympic medalists, World Championship and World Cup riders will compete against each other as they vie for national titles at the Skoda Elite & U19 Track National Championships.

The event will be held at Cambridge’s Avantidrome from 29 January – 1 February 2015 with tickets now available online.

It is the final opportunity for Kiwi athletes to prove themselves before Cycling New Zealand announces the team selected to compete at the world championships in France in late February.

It is the perfect opportunity for spectators to witness high speed action on the track over four days of intense competition at the world-class velodrome.

Cycling New Zealand’s High Performance Director Mark Elliott says the Skoda Elite & U19 Track National Championships showcases the talent New Zealand has; from the experienced men’s sprint team who currently hold the rainbow jerseys, to the young talent coming through from the U19s.

“We’re looking for the best representative team to go to the world championships in Paris. We want the team to bring back medals and accrue important UCI points which will count towards the Olympic Games in 2016.

“The national championships is the final opportunity for riders to impress the selectors for a place in the team for the world championships.

“There is real competition for places throughout the team especially in both the men’s sprint and endurance programmes.
