Unique Dining Experience Returns for Vintage Weekend
Popular ‘Boundless Banquet’ will be back on Victoria Avenue

A popular event from last year’s Vintage Weekend will be back again on the 17th of January. The Boundless Banquet is a three course meal set on Victoria Avenue. Last year the meal catered for 80 diners, this year organisers have increased capacity to 100 diners and have decided upon a new theme for the dinner along with a brand new menu. This year’s theme will be 1950s Rockabilly and diners are encouraged to dress according to theme and wear their best 50s dresses, slacks and plimsolls. Two new businesses have also come on board and created dishes for the dinner. Spice Guru will be producing an Indian vegetarian starter and La Strada restaurant have created an Italian limoncello inspired dessert. Element Restaurant will once again be handling the Main course with a lamb and vegetarian option available while Jolt Café will take care of after dinner coffees. The starter and main course are also wine matched.

Diners at last year’s dinner only had good things to say about the meal and the unique experience of dining in the middle of Victoria Avenue on a balmy summer’s evening. As last year’s event was a sell out the decision to increase availability to 100 was an easy one for organisers.

The four eateries organising this year’s dinner are keen to work together more regularly and have called themselves ‘The Bridge Block Collective.’ They hope that if Whanganui foodies enjoy and support the banquet they may be able to produce some other unique meals throughout the year to showcase the fine dining available in our town.

Mainstreet Marketing Manager Elise Goodge says “The Boundless Banquet is unique, no other town has a hot meal served to so many at once and by so many different eateries, it is a triumph of co-ordination and skill and a snip at just $80 per ticket, similar events in other towns cost hundreds.”

Tickets to the Boundless Banquet are available now from Spice Guru, La Strada, Jolt Café and Element Restaurant. Tickets are $80 per person. Vegetarians please order this option prior to the event.
