New Zealand Red Stag Trophy Hunting Interest Up
Trophy hunting for Red Stag and other game in New Zealand has seen a strong increase in interest from the U.S.A. recently according to one of the South Island’s leading hunting outfitters.
Richard and Sarah Burdon who operate Glen Dene Hunting from their high country station on the shores of Lake Hawea have recently returned from an extensive trip through the U.S. visiting safari hunting operations and have returned this month to attend a number of tradeshows.
Richard said the interest has increased substantially and was possibly due to a lower dollar and increased flights into Queenstown enabling visitors from the West coast of the U.S. to arrive at their rural south island hunting destination on the same day they arrive in the country.
“We’re seeing a lot more early inquiries for this time of year with New Zealand red stag, chamois and tahr high on the bucket list,” Richard said.
The Burdon’s will be attending one of the largest hunting trade shows in the world hosted by the Safari Club International in early February in Las Vegas as well visiting agents on the West Coast.
Glen Dene offers hunters 15,000 acres of free-range hunting as well as a managed game park for gold medal standard animals.
The property recently hosted a New Zealand Professional Hunting guide’s course which included guides who are part of the Glen Dene operation.
Richard and Sarah Burdon of Glen Dene Hunting and I will be travelling to the states for Safari Club International on the 4th to the 7th in Las Vegas, booth Number 277-283 then onto Harrisburg for the NRA Show which runs 7th through to 15thof Feb. Booth number 4807 followed by client and agents visit in Oregon from the 16th through to the 22nd of Feb.
