PwC Foundation Charity Relay 2015
PwC Foundation Charity Relay 2015
To support Ronald McDonald House Wellington, The Neonatal Trust and Wellington Free Ambulance, 300 runners/walkers will participate in the inaugural PwC Foundation Charity Relay 2015, which covers 98 km from Wellington to Martinborough Square.
Eighteen teams from organisations throughout Wellington, made up of between 8 and 20 people, are participating in the relay with the hope of raising $100,000 for these charities.
“We’re very proud to be raising money for these charities that are committed to supporting families and communities when they are most in need. The response and support from the other organisations which have joined the relay has been fantastic, as has the help provided by a number of businesses to make the logistics of the event easier. We’ve even got some of the Hurricanes joining us at the Martinborough Square to support the teams finishing,” says PwC Partner and Event Director Richard Longman.
Aiming to create a fun, team event in as safe as possible environment, the 98km distance has been divided into 14 legs which begins at the Wellington waterfront. The relay will involve a largely ‘off-road’ run through to Te Marua and from here, each team can choose to either have runners or mountain bikers complete the 18km Rimutaka Incline trail to Cross Creek, before an on-road relay which will take runners to Martinborough.
PwC has a long-standing relationship with Ronald McDonald House Wellington and the Neonatal Trust and has recently partnered with Wellington Free Ambulance.
