Wellington Tui (No) Catch to be reviewed
Is seems Wellington man Jason Bragg may have taken the Tui Catch a Million catch at Westpac Stadium after all and we could be going upstairs to review the earlier decision.
“I have always maintained the catch was good and we haven't seen anything to dispute this. It landed clean in my right hand high above my head and I must admit I was shocked to see it there when I looked down and opened my hand, then quickly raised the ball high. It all happened in a split second ”
Tui Catch a Million representative Kate Baars says she will be talking with the team on Monday.
An earlier press release from Tui included a number of inaccuracies including what may be a fabricated quote. In their haste to make a quick decision and get a statement around the catch out there may have been an error in judgement.
Jason was surprised and shocked to read the Tui press release on Saturday afternoon.
“I did not say the quote attributed to me in the Tui press release and do not believe it to be true. On reflection in the broadcast suite I did not see any conclusive evidence of my left hand contacting my right hand and I said so at the time. I asked for a larger screen to review the very grainy screen that was no bigger than a laptop screen and I asked Kate Baars to source this for me.”
A full retraction of the quote from the Tui press release and an apology have been requested.
