Monday February 23, 2015

The BMW Polo Open was the best yet, raising $20,000 for the Auckland Helicopter Trust. In an exciting match Team Rodd & Gunn won for the second year in a row by one goal in the final.

BMW Polo Open Event Director Simon Wilson said, when asked how he felt the day went, “absolutely ecstatic with not only the fabulous sell out crowd but the perfect Clevedon country weather. To add to the success of the day the BMW M3 cleaned up the pony in a convincing race between the Pony vs BMW. Rodd & Gunn were the ultimate winners of the day winning 9-8 to Semco PDL concluding the formalities of the BMW Polo Open 2015.”

Wilson went on to say “Importantly the BMW Polo Open raised $20,000 for the Auckland Helicopter Trust. The crowd was a mixture of people from all walks of Auckland, some hosted in the Orsini ViP marquee, and those who stayed on were entertained to Sweet Mix Kids at the After Party.

Nina Englert from BMW presented winning team Rodd & Gunn who proved triumphant against Semco PDL in the final match.

The New Idea Fashion in the Field judges Lulu Wilcox, Kylie Bax, Leigh Matheson, Daisy Uffindell and Sarah Hutchings from Orsini searched the sidelines for the most stylish people. Estelle Clifford from The Hits presented the New Idea Fashion in the Field and congratulated Carlos Turner (best dressed male), Sybelle Noikhle (best polo hat), Sarah Harris (best female shoes) Karl Burdge (best male shoes) and Michelle Blanchard (female winner) who won $1,500 clothing voucher from Andrea Moore.

The Auckland Polo Club extends a thank you to all workers, players, umpires, grooms, fans, sponsors and horses who contributed to the success of the day. Special mention to Team Rodd & Gunn consisting of Ross George, Samuel Hopkinson, English player James Harper and Kit Brooks for the success. We look forward to hosting the BMW Polo Open in February 2016.
