Two favourites dip-out in Intermediate semi-finals
The top two Intermediate classd shearers in New Zealand this summer have both missed-out on qualifying for the final of their event at the Golden Shears in Masterton.
Hugh De Lacy, of Fernside in North Canterbury, and Geraldine-based Chilean shearer Luis Pincol, are the top two on Shearing Sports New Zealand In termediate rankjing, based on performances throughout the season.
But today it was a different story as they were among the 18 in the semi-finals, both failing to make the top six for the final to be shorn tomorrow afternoon(Saturday).
De Lacy, who won the Pahiatua Shears Intermediate final last Sunday, just missed – by 0.129pts.
The six qualifiers include two overseas shearers.
The six qualifiers in order of qualifying are: Kaleb Foote (Waikaretu), Marshall Guy (Kaeo), Michael Herlihy (Matiere), Marley Waihape (Mataura), Nick Greaves (England), Elgan Jones (Wales).
