Lightfoot excited to head to Ruapuna
Mike ‘Buzz’ Lightfoot heads to the second round of the UDC V8 Ute series excited to improve on his opening round result, which did little to reflect the potential for a good result.
Lightfoot embarked on a new engineering partnership with DCH Motorsport for the new season and had a fast ute all weekend when the series kicked off at Levels Raceway in Timaru two weeks ago. Unfortunately two collisions with young Australian driver Kirk Shier meant that Lightfoot was unable to record the results he deserved.
The Aucklander now heads to Ruapuna on the outskirts of Christchurch looking to replicate the speed that the Lightfoot Motorsport SEW Eurodrive Falcon Ute.
Ruapuna is a track that Lightfoot enjoys and in the past has experienced success at the track, including finishing runner up the last time the series visited the track in 2013 in what was only his second outing in his current ute.
“I can’t wait to get back to Ruapuna, it’s a great track,” says Lightfoot. “We certainly had speed at Timaru and just didn’t convert it, so I’m confident that the guys at DHC Motorsport will again give me a good ute this weekend and we can get a good result for the team at SEW Eurodrive.”
Round two of the UDC V8 Ute series sees testing on Friday leading into qualifying on Saturday morning. After a regular qualifying set grid for race one on Saturday afternoon,Sunday morning sees the previous days results reversed for the race two grid, with the third race of the weekend based on points accumulated across the weeke
