Thistle Hall - Gallery & CubaDupa

CubaDupa will transform Cuba Street(28 & 29 March 2015) with a myriad of dance, music, theatre, live street art, carnival, circus, and street food, featuring (but not limited to) a mass street orchestra, interactive masquerade costume event, giant puppets, an intergalactic band, aerial opera, flash mobs, and alien junk monsters! The festival will run on:

Saturday 28 - 12.00 noon to 12.00 midnight
Sunday 29 - 12.00 noon to 5.00pm

Thistle Hall will be hosting the following CubaDupa events:
Saturday 28 - 9.30am - 12.30 noon - Teapot Racing by Capital Steampunkin the upstairs hall
23 - 29 March - Asylum / James Harcourt in the gallery (see listing below)

Wellington Batucada will be using Thistle Hall as their home base while they bring the vibrant rhythms of 100 Brazilian samba drummers to CubaDupa. Joined by drummers and dancers from AK Samba (Auckland), Sambatron (Hamilton), Nelson Samba de Sol, and Hawkes Bay Batucada. Get your dancing shoes on cos you’re gonna want to shake yer booty! You’ll find them on stage, on the streets, and jamming in Te Aro Park on both days – and on Sunday they’ll be coming together for a great big Carnival Finale to close the festival.
