Walsh Breaks
Records In Melbourne
Tom
Walsh hit his straps at the IAAF World Challenge in
Melbourne yesterday, finishing off the southern hemisphere
summer season in style with a personal best of 21.37m. The
performance was a meet record, a NZ National Record, an
Oceania record, and the leading distance in the world for
2015 ahead of American Ryan Whiting’s performances in New
Zealand last month.
Walsh said after the event “I’m pretty happy to finish the summer on a high, and great to get a PB and Oceania record.”
He is now looking forward to the northern hemisphere season, where he will again compete in Diamond League meets in the USA and Europe, building up to the IAAF World Championships in Beijing in August, and next year’s Olympics in Brazil.
Walsh will be back to hard training and work as a builder for the next few weeks, before travelling to USA at the end of April to commence his international season.
