The Return of The Empire
The Return of The Empire
The Godfather of Wellington cinema set to re-open its doors this Autumn!
A highly anticipated date has been set for the reopening of one of Wellington’s most iconic cinemas.
Pat Vinaccia an active member of the Island Bay community is breathing new life into a much loved Wellington icon.
Born and bred in Island Bay Vinaccia was heartbroken to see the old theatre close as he has always believed it to be an asset to the area.
In 2014 he decided to buy the building with the promise of bringing the magic of cinema back to the Bay.
Vinaccia’s passion for his community and love for hospitality has been the driving force behind this project. Italian by both decent and nature he invisions the new cinema as a meeting point for both old and young, a place to gather with friends and family in a warm, humble and welcoming environment.
